Xiaomi May Launch 64MP Camera powered by Samsung :Reports

Samsung recently announced its 64MP smartphone camera sensor — a much higher megapixel count than the Sony IMX586 and even its own ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor, both of which come with 48 megapixels. However, there’s still no smartphone with the new sensor in tow. It was expected to debut with the Galaxy A70, but that didn’t happen, and new reports and rumours have pretty much told us that the upcoming Note 10 will not feature it either.

Needless to say, a higher megapixel count won’t necessarily result in better pictures, and the 64MP sensor will be using pixel binning to come out with 16MP shots instead of 64MP photos, so it remains to be seen if the new sensor can actually bring something incredibly new and better to the table here.

Rumours suggest that not only Samsung working on a smartphone with its new 64MP sensor, but Chinese smartphone major Xiaomi is working on one too. The tweet also suggests that Xiaomi might very well be the first company to bring the sensor to market in China, whereas Samsung’s upcoming phone with the 64MP sensor will likely be debuting the sensor internationally.
